Stefania - Tough Mudder Training

Stefania comletes the Tough Mudder Event

“The most amazing part of completing this challenge was being able to tell my 9 year old daughter what Mommy did and to show her how strong women are. Also, the expression on my 7 year old son’s face when he saw me covered in mud was priceless”

The Wake-Up Call

For as long as I can recall I would wake up every morning feeling tired and drained, before the day had even started! I could never shake the sluggish feeling. Driving to work I would envy people running on the side walk, or drive by a gym and see people working out and I would always wonder how they could fit exercise into their busy schedules. Roughly a year ago I was having lunch with a colleague and I was in shock on how fantastic she looked and felt. Listening to her talk made me want her energy and drive. I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. She suggested I go with her one day to Bodies by Design. I gave her a few excuses until one day she went ahead and booked an appointment with Kris. There was no way out after that. She became my mentor, and very dear friend.

The BBD Fitness Program

BBD is the first gym that I’ve ever become a part of. It only took a few times until I felt completely comfortable with everyone and the idea of being a regular member at a fitness facility. My goal was to work out three times a week with a personal trainer and I promised myself never to cancel a session. I wanted to feel strong, and healthy. I wanted to buy clothes that I loved and not buy clothes that fit my body. It felt slow to start but I kept up with the hard work and I started seeing results after 3 months. I love that every workout is different from the last, you never have the chance to get bored. I developed a great relationship with the BBD crew and with no time I realized that “working out” became a part of my routine. Letting the training in allowed me to see how much hard work goes into my body and that with all this hard work eating properly is key. The key is to remember that it is a life style…. Going to the gym, taking care of your body, eating properly all become part of your life, it’s not temporary. With small children this “addiction” came at the perfect time. My children never hear the word “diet” in our house. My husband and I teach them to be healthy and strong. As a mom, leading by example is the most effective way of teaching your children how to live a healthy lifestyle.

The Achievement

I pulled myself up and pushed onwards…. As I crossed the finish line I was speechless. I felt weightless and it took a few minutes for me to accept that I did it. I’d finished!!!

Stefania - completes tough mudder trainingOn Saturday September 28th 2013 I took part in a Tough Mudder Challenge with my husband. At 12:20 we stood at the start line with no thought of backing down, our theory was “Don’t think, just do!” The 24 obstacles spread out over an 18km course was not only “tough” it was physically exhausting as well. During one obstacle I had to sit down to calm myself and mentally rejuvenate. I needed to remove the thought of giving up. I looked around and saw people encouraging and motivating others, total strangers and it made me realize that I was surrounded by people that are all motivated, healthy, and strong. I then realized that I was part of that group of people too. I pulled myself up and pushed onwards…. As I crossed the finish line I was speechless. I felt weightless and it took a few minutes for me to accept that I did it. I’d finished!!!

The Reward
As a mom I’ve dedicated the last 9 years to my children, putting them first. I love every second of being a mom and wife and wouldn’t have it any other way, but doing this challenge was about me, for me. When I crossed the finish line the emotions that ran through me can only be felt, explaining them is impossible. I did this!!! Now more than ever I believe that if you want something you need to work HARD and go and get it. The most amazing part of completing this challenge was being able to tell my 9 year old daughter what mommy did and to show her how strong women are. Also, the expression on my 7 year old son’s face when he saw me covered in mud was priceless.
