My last pregnancy took a toll on my body. I was very unhappy with how I looked. The ‘baby fat’ didn’t want to go away. I couldn’t fit into any of my clothes. It was quite depressing.
My wake-up call
As soon as my youngest daughter stopped nursing, I decided that it was time to get into shape. I would not have been able to do this without the support of my husband. He made sure that I was ready to start attending training sessions at BBD, and afterward, he always kept encouraging me to continue.
I honestly don’t think I would have been able to do it without BBD. My trainer Nat, always supportive and positive, consistently was able to fit me into the schedule for extra sessions to make sure I maintained my progress. It was invaluable to have someone watch over my weight loss and make sure I stayed accountable.
BBD has a very welcoming and positive atmosphere. All of the trainers, Caroline – the general manager, the administrative staff, and the members are super friendly and positive. I often had no choice but to bring my one-year-old daughter to the sessions. She would sit in her stroller and mimic the arm movements of the exercises I was doing. It was precious!
Without the ability to have her there with me, I would’ve had to give up on my goal. Thank you, Kris, for making it possible and special thanks to Nat for always looking after my daughter!
Having four young and very active children requires much energy. I feel that I can finally keep up with them! A bonus is that once again, I fit into my wardrobe.
Having the energy and looking great at the age of 44 gives me the confidence to face whatever comes my way.
I started personal training in January 2019. It took me five months to lose 40 lbs, and I had training sessions 3-4 times a week.
It was hard carving out the time and making sure I stuck to the routine. It meant that other things suffered as a result, like trying to keep the house clean (which is quite impossible, by the way, with four young kids).
I think the hardest part was adjusting my diet. I would weigh my portions at every meal to make sure I wasn’t going over 1100 calories per day, while cutting out most of the fat, sugar and carbs, and sticking to a ‘clean’ diet, high in protein. I felt hungry and miserable for the first couple of months, but at the same time, I didn’t want to jeopardize my progress.
Just by adjusting my diet and portions, I was able to lose 10 lbs within the first two weeks.
However, the food alone was not sufficient to shape my body. I needed the rigor of exercise to kick start my metabolism, and to tone and build muscle. That’s where BBD was so invaluable. Nat knew precisely what to focus on to ensure a fantastic result!
