I want to paint a picture for you.

So let say you’ve got some health and fitness goals that you want to achieve this year, and your deciding on what program is the best approach.

You go out and start doing your research and find out that there’s an array of fitness classes to choose from, then you might ask yourself; which one of these programs is most cost-effective and time-efficient.

But have you ever asked yourself, what program would you most enjoy? What type of fitness activity would you consider to be exciting and entertaining? Other than reaching your goals, what would keep you motivated enough that you would stay consistent with an exercise program?

I posed the same question some time ago to my team here at Bodies by Design. I challenged us to come up with a fitness class where clients could expect the type of exceptional results that we’re renowned for, but also have fun doing it.

So, when we sat down to brainstorm, as you can imagine, we had more than enough ideas of how we could make it physically challenging, heck were trainers, so one thing we know how to do is push people physically, but when we asked ourselves how can we make this program fun, we were stumped.

So I asked my team when in your life did you have the most fun while you were exercising. When did you stop looking and the clock and losing track of time while you were burning calories and getting fit? I got a lot of blank faces starring back at me, so I said, “think way back, all the way back to primary and secondary school… what do you remember about gym class?”

Many of them said, “it was fun.”

And for those that didn’t say it was fun, said it was more enjoyable than math class!

Then I asked them what made it fun?

They told me it was the challenge of learning and perfecting new physical skills, and the comradery they felt with their teammates while they were competing with each other.

That was the aha moment.

And so we started creating a program that would challenge our members. So we crafted a cardio-based fitness class that drives your metabolism while incorporating resistance training to improve your strength and muscle tone.

Then we created the W.O.W., or work out of the week, so the workout is forever changing, and you’re getting progressively challenged. This way, your brain doesn’t get bored, and you can stay motivated, and your body can never adapt to the workout so you won’t plateau with your results.

And this was all great, but we’ve already been there and done that, we needed to add the missing ingredient, that unique energy, the pizazz that would keep our members coming back for more.

We need to create that connection with our members so they can have a sense of comradery and feel at ease with each other. To do this, we kept all of our fitness classes group and team-based with a particular emphasis on incorporating creative and fun exercises and fitness challenges.

So let’s say you are a newbie to our studio, or maybe you have never done a group class before, and perhaps you’re feeling a little shy and uncomfortable about participating. We designed a program that would have a way of breaking the ice for you so you could quickly get to know new people and feel a sense of comradery. And when we put our members into teams, they would compete and work together, pushing themselves up and beyond their perceived limits.

Now we had the plan and knew what was needed, so we went out and created the first pilot program and asked our members to test it for us.

After more, and some more, and a little bit more editing and refining, we knew we had it when we asked our members what they loved about the class, and they said;

“That was tough, but it was fun, and I know I will see results.”

And we said: YES!!

Just the F.A.Q.’s about GYM-CLASS

Are memberships extra?

Absolutely not – an unlimited studio membership is included with all of our GYM-CLASS packages.

So you can come in on days that you don’t have a scheduled class and take advantage of our 10,000 square foot fitness studio, which includes an extensive selection of cardio and strength training machines. We also include all of our amenities such as our change rooms, showers, sauna, and complimentary towel service to boot!

What happens if I miss a class?

  • WE REQUIRE  24 NOTICE OF CANCELLATION AND/OR CHANGE A CLASS TIME. FAILURE TO PROVIDE 24 HOUR NOTICE WILL RESULT IN A LOST CLASS WHICH YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR. 
  • FOR UNLIMITED GROUP CLASSES, IF A CLASS IS NOT CANCELLED WITHIN THE ALLOWABLE TIME FRAME A $5 CANCELLATION FEE WILL APPLY

How long do I have to commit for?

All of our GYM-CLASS packages are month to month and every 30 days you have the option to cancel with no hassle.

What happens to the classes I cancel in advance?

  • Classes don’t expire and will remain in your account to be used in the future
  • If you are going to be absent from classes for 1-12 weeks, request a cease and we will pause your bookings and billing.
  • For UNLIMITED GROUP CLASES, any classes not used in the stated time period will be forfieted.

Do I have to be in shape to start your program?

Here’s who this program is not suitable for: 

  • Beginners…this class is more suitable for those that are currently active (BUT we have a 20 plus year proven personal training program to offer you, that would be much more suitable)
  • Those with injuries or conditions… that impede their ability to perform the intermediate to advanced exercises (BUT we have a great Active-Physio program for you to consider)
  • NOTE: our Personal Training and Active Physiotherapy programs are the BEST way to prepare you for Gym-Class!

How long are the classes?

The sessions are 50 minutes long and include a warm-up, cardio/strength circuit training, cool down and MUCH MORE!!

How do I book/cancel/reschedule classes?

You will have access to our online website to give you full access and control of your class bookings and billing.  Our classes are booked on a first come / first serve basis and can be up to weeks in advance.

What type of training can I expect?

Our training programs are based on multi-activity circuit training.  We believe not only does the mind get bored of repetitive fitness programs, but so does your body, therefore our programs are action packed and never the same.  We believe time is of the essence for our clients so our programs are fast paced and effective.

How many classes per week do I need?

The frequency is based on your budget, goals, and how fast you wish for your goals to be accomplished.  Our program is based on an average of three visits per week, so for example, if you choose the two classes per week option, we suggest that you attend a minimum of 1time per week for an independent workout.

What happens if I'm going to be away and not able to attend?

We allow you to cease your booking and billing for up to 3 months if you plan to be absent from classes for longer than one week.
