To cleanse or not to cleanse, t’is the question today. You may have been told that you need a diet cleanse; because, toxins have built up in your body and you need to get rid of these poisons. If that’s the truth then great, but ask yourself this question, do you really need a diet cleanse to lose weight or detox? Maybe you looking for the fast and easy ten pounds of weight loss??
Well, there’s better solutions for long term weight loss and you don’t have to go through the misery of a cleanse, and then have to suffer a rebound in your weight when it’s all said and done. What cleanses really are is just fancy crash diets under the pretense of a healthy detox. They severely restrict your calories. Yeah, of course you’re going to lose weight. You’re starving.
These cleanses are normally under the disguise of fancy concoctions and different brews consisting of liquids and syrups, herbs, natural supplements and all with a hefty price tag. Some of the popular cleanses include the color or liver cleanses. The Master Cleanse which was made popular by the singer Beyonce. It’s a concoction of lemon water and maple syrup, cayenne pepper along with a herbal detox tea, taken daily for about ten days and nothing else. Beyonce said it made her feel awful and cranky. The ten day green smoothie and the Isogenic Cleanse for Life.
There are a lot of short term negative side effects from conjures as well like low blood sugar, low energy, nausea, dizziness and “hangriness”, dehydration, diarrhea, and of course excessive gas.
Chronic diarrhea can really mess up your natural gut flora as well, make you more susceptible to infections and food allergies. In fact, I’ve seen a lot of friends of mine do these cleanses and all of a sudden they become lactose intolerant or allergic to wheat. The bottom line guys, cleanses really f**** up your digestive system.
What your body really needs to stay regular, avoid constipation and sort of self-detox is sleep, water, fruits, vegetables and fiber. There’s no scientific evidence that show that cleanses remove toxins from the body. In fact our body can do it on its’ own if you give it what it needs.
