Amanda Bertoldi makes a Full Recovery from Near Fatal Car Accident
I find it crazy that when I wore this wedding dress 2.5 years ago, I was already down 40 pounds with the help of my awesome trainer, Nat. At my highest point in my life, I was tipping the 200 mark. In September of 2018, I decided to join Caroline’s Bootcamp just to push myself to try something new. Since joining, I have dropped another 15 pounds and now weigh in at my lowest, 140. What is insane about it is process is the inches that have come off..I mean I didn’t expect to be swimming in my wedding dress! This just goes to show that it’s really not all about the scale number.
My advice to anyone who feels ‘stuck’: I was THERE. In fact, I felt trapped in a body that wasn’t mine. I was ashamed to even come into the gym, especially since I had never been big in my life prior to my car accident.
It’s hard because people don’t see the personal STRUGGLE behind the journey, especially when it’s not something visible. Unless you’ve read my bio, many people don’t know about how I nearly died, and how it took 8 years to recover.
I mean who the hell can tell I had 10 screws inserted into my jaw? Unless I wear shorts you won’t see the 200 stitches/scar on my leg, or know that I fractured my back, or that I injured the tendons in my left wrist, or that I suffered from seizures and debilitating depression.
I STILL suffer from panic attacks, which is something that I live with daily. I’m saying this because it’s important for people to know that if I can do it, THEY can do it, and not to be ashamed! And it is also meant to show that not everything has to be perfect to be proud of your progress!
The journey is never perfect! I have times where I want to stay in bed and do **** all. I have times where I go up 10 pounds. It’s not about how you fall, but how you get back up again. I do have to mention that my journey would not be complete without my dietician, who has helped me tailor a meal plan that has become a lifestyle for me.
So please remember it’s a balance of all aspects of life. Getting the results you want is not easy and I’m not here to sugar coat it. It is about DEDICATION, PASSION, 0 EXCUSES, and most of all 0 JUDGMENT.
I respect each and every person who walks through the doors of this gym, because it’s coming in that is the boldest, biggest move. Just make sure you come through the RIGHT doors. I’m happy I made the right choice in my decision on where to go.
Thank you again BBD!
