How Effective is Water in Reducing Joint and Back Pain?
Scientific research indicates 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease joint and back pain for up to what percentage of sufferers?
The answer might shock you!
And the answer is: 80%!
Many people suffer from joint pain as they get older and become less active, so it’s a no-brainer that everyone should be drinking a good amount of water each day. I prefer sparkling water, for the fizz and I feel full – a great diet tip! P.S. If your fizz choice is pop, avoid Tonic and go for Soda Water – Tonic Water has 90 calories a can, Soda has 0!
Don’t Drink Enough Water?
Are You Retaining Water?
Odds are that you’re not. The body regulates its water balance hormonally and unless you suffer from edema, you shouldn’t be retaining water. Of course there are dietary incidents that could cause temporary water retention (Chinese buffets!) Some of the most amusing moments during my bodybuilding days were when competitors backstage would pinch their waistlines and tell me they were retaining water. The fact of the matter is body fat has very low levels of water and most of our body fat lies underneath our skin. Case and point, if you can pinch it, it’s safe to say the “F” word – FAT!
Is it Water or is it Fat?
Don’t mistake extra body-fat for water retention. What you are pinching is fat. The fact of the matter is that body-fat contains very little water in your body and water is stored in our muscles and not underneath the skin.
If you don’t believe me then go into the sauna and sweat out a few pounds then look at yourself in the mirror. Do you see a difference? Probably not, now lose a few pounds of fat and then look in the mirror.
You will be a believer.
