Hi guys, it’s Alex from Bodies by Design and this is your Evasion Belt for Agility Training
Get a GRIP Tip!
The Evasion Belt is mainly used by athletes and weekend warriors, and provides great training for those involved in sports such as basketball, soccer or hockey. This fitness tool aims to increase your agility, speed, power and coordination through shadowing and evasion drills, which helps athletes in developing both their offensive and defensive skills.
Each player wears a belt that is connected to one another by a tearaway Velcro piece in the middle. A player “wins” when they manage to successfully evade their opponent and break the Velcro connection.
The first exercise we’re demonstrating is called the shuffle drill. We’ve set up a series of pylons and we’re practicing evading your opponent in 30-second intervals, shuffling side to side. In the second exercise, we’re sprinting forward and backward, and again the defender has to stay with the opponent.
Drills like these are challenging and really get your heart rate up. You can make the drills even more difficult by adjusting the Velcro connection overlap tearaway (i.e. making it shorter will give you less reaction time).
