Nat turned his lifestyle around and now teaches others how to do the same

I have always had a passion for fitness and athletics. At the age of 3, my parents put me in hockey, which I played competitively until the age of 18. I played five or six days a week, and I was always in shape, but when I stopped playing, I gained a lot of weight that year – 40 pounds in fact. I woke up one morning and said, “I can’t do this anymore. I need to lose some weight.” I think it was my father who said, “You’re getting fat,” which led me to join the gym. I began losing weight and toning my muscles, but after some time I hit a plateau. I did some research, and the articles suggested improving my eating habits.

I started to eat better, and that’s when the weight began to come off. My clothes were fitting a lot better, and my dad wasn’t calling me fat anymore.

People I hadn’t seen in a couple of months were noticing, and when they asked me how I did it, I gave them the knowledge I had learned. A couple of my joined me at the gym, and they started getting results too. After high school, I decided I wanted to put my passion to use and help others who struggle with their weight.

This led me to Humber College, where I graduated from the health and fitness program and became a personal trainer. At Bodies by Design, we guarantee a program, which is 50% cardio, 50% resistance training, and food logging, which means we get the client to log their food. This way, they know exactly what they’re eating, and where the problem is. I have no problem promoting that.

I’m a firm believer that your diet is 80-90% of your results. I did it myself. That’s how I lost the 40 pounds.

Nat Personal Trainer in Woodbridge OntarioThe clients who are following our program is getting results. The clients who aren’t, are not losing weight. They’re getting frustrated, and I’m getting frustrated. They feel like they’re wasting their money, and I feel like they’re wasting their time.

I believe clients can only fail if they don’t want it bad enough. You have to be here for yourself, not because someone else wants you to be here. The secret to success is consistent with both exercise and nutrition. I know our program works because I see the results with our clients on a weekly basis.

Numbers don’t lie, and everyone has that magical number of calories that, if followed with regular exercise, will guarantee results.
