3 Reasons Why you are Waiting to Keep the Weight Off

Have you ever asked yourself what you are waiting for to lose those unwanted pounds? Before you blurt out, “I’ve been too busy, the kids come first, or now isn’t the right time,” let me tell you that NOW is indeed the right time! The right time to ditch the excuses and make yourself a priority.
Here is why most people are holding onto the stubborn excess weight:
1. IT’S JUST ENERGY: extra body weight is just collected energy which hangs around until you decide to do something with it – instead of leaving it, learn to use it as fuel to ignite the body’s engine. Start by selecting a physical activity that you enjoy such as swimming, skating, biking, or playing a sport you used to love as a child. It is better to select an activity you enjoy instead of forcing yourself into the gym when in fact the gym just isn’t your thing. Exercising will be more enjoyable if you just select an activity you thoroughly enjoy!
2. PROTECTION: sometimes we hold onto the weight for protection. Protection from what you may ask? If you ever experienced a traumatic event if your life, I want you to stop and ask yourself is you are using the extra weight as a shield to protect you from future pain and suffering? A former client of mine used to gain weight purposely to spite her husband when he would poke fun at her. She essentially used her weight to protect herself emotionally from the pain her husband was causing her. Instead of using the extra weight as emotional protection, protect your body from disease and fuel it with nutrient-dense foods and daily exercise.
3. KEEPING GROUNDED: at times, being heavier can keep the person “grounded.” Now you may ask yourself, what I mean by that. Having those extra few pounds might make the person feel more safe because they fear what life would be like if they weighed less, in terms of what people would think of them, how people might treat them differently and ultimately succeed at things they never thought were possible. I know this might sound scary but I need you to envision all the positive things weight loss would bring and how good it would feel to fit into that new pair of jeans. I need you to release those feelings of uncertainty and trust the process. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your dream physique. Be patient as well as consistent and the results will come.
