When individuals engage in unhealthy living and eating habits, acidification of the body becomes a threat to the root causes of many bodily illnesses, such as excess weight obesity, fatigue, prematurely aging of the skin, joint and muscle pain, osteoporosis, nasal congestion and frequent illnesses such as colds and flu, not to mention recent studies showing that it could lead to or accelerate cancer. The ideology to balancing PH is to eat a balance of alkaline and acid forming foods at a ratio of 80/20. Examples of alkaline foods are asparagus, lettuce, onion, cauliflower, spinach, broccoli and celery. Examples of acid forming foods are pork, veal, beef, chicken, eggs, artificial sweeteners and chocolate. Achieving this is successfully done by eating alkaline diet or taking alkaline green food supplements and this helps in weight management programs in many ways:
- Food cravings are controlled when acidity in the body is neutralized
- Protects vital organs by reducing the storage of acid waste in fat cells
- Body releases acid waste and burns off excess fat
