What kind of muscle fiber do you have — slow twitch or fast twitch?

Slow twitch muscle fibers are more efficient at using oxygen than fast twitch muscle fibers and therefore can extend muscle contractions over a long period of time. They fire more slowly than fast twitch and can go for a long time before they fatigue. These muscle fibers are crucial for endurance activities and sports. Fast twitch muscle fibers do not require oxygen and fire quickly, however they fatigue more quickly. They are crucial for power activities and sports. Most people have a mix of both of these muscle fibers but you probably have one that is dominant. Whatever type you have, just make sure you Funk up your Fibers and hit the weights!

Is it water or is it fat?

Don’t mistake extra body-fat for water retention. What you are pinching is fat. The fact of the matter is that body-fat contains very little water and most of our body-water is stored in our muscles and not underneath the skin.
If you don’t believe me then go into the sauna and sweat out a few pounds then look at yourself in the mirror. Do you see a difference? Probably not, now lose a few pounds of fat and then look in the mirror.
You will be a believer.
