Is weight lifting the best way to boost your sex drive?

Studies have shown that regular exercisers report a higher sex drive. This may be related to surges of testosterone that can occur immediately after resistance training like lifting weights, or right after high intensity cardio like running.
Although there may be increased levels in men and women that can be detected immediately following certain workouts, overall levels may be decreased after other types of exercise, such as regular endurance training.
Case and point: hit the weights and keep strong in the bedroom!

Will walking help me lose weight?

Well that depends on how much time you have.
At the average walk speed of 3 MPH it will take you one hour to burn 75-100 calories. In comparison, those of you that have had a session with a BBD trainer burn 600-750 calories in a one hour session. Running (5 MPH +) is also in the same calorie burn range.
Walking is great outdoor recreation, socializing and is good for general health but don’t expect to fit into your bathing suit this summer with your daily walks around the neighborhood.

What is the Fitness Fear or Anger theory?
April 7, 2009 by Kristopher Simpson

Over the last 20 years of being in this business I have learned that there are two things that motivate people to exercise: fear or anger.
People’s fear of getting older, fear of poor health, fear of not being desirable, and fear of not being around for their children or not being a good role model for them. People also become angry with themselves when they gain weight, can’t fit into their clothes and just feel uncomfortable in their own skin. These are the sparks that start the fire.
Find out what motivates you, if it is fear, or if you are quite simply getting fed up! Hold onto this and you will have yourself a bomb-fire.
See you at the gym.

Can barbecuing meats cause cancer?

Cooking food at high temperatures — for example, broiling or barbecuing meats — can lead to the formation of minute quantities of many potent carcinogens that are comparable to those found in cigarette smoke. Pre-cooking meats in a microwave oven for 2-3 minutes before broiling shortens the time on the hot pan, which can help minimize the formation of these carcinogens. This does not necessarily mean that there is a significant hazard. The gastrointestinal tract sheds its outer layer continuously to protect itself from carcinomas, and has a high activity of detoxifying enzymes. Spring is around the corner so enjoy your barbecue!
Why do my muscles become sore a day after exercising?

If you guessed lactic acid, you’re wrong. Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is the pain or discomfort often felt 24 to 72 hours after exercising and subsides generally within 2 to 3 days. Once thought to be caused by lactic acid buildup, a more recent theory is that it is caused by tiny tears in the muscle fibers. Since lactic acid disperses fairly rapidly, it could not explain pain experienced days after exercise. NO PAIN – NO GAIN!
